RECYCLING REALITIES: MANAGING HEALTH RISKS TO MAKE WASTEWATER AN ASSET
Irrigation with polluted water or wastewater is a widespread reality, especially in low-income countries. Yet many policymakers are unaware of the significance of the practice and the benefits it can bring. Nor do they know that practical recommendations are now available to make wastewater use safer and more sustainable without relying on expensive treatment technologies alone. These approaches tackle the problem from many angles, over the short, medium and long term, and accord with new World Health Organization guidelines.
